DaCE:IT Computer Recycling Project
Since 2004 DaCE has run a computer recycling project at the CIL in Carlisle. The project collects redundant computers and other IT equipment and refurbishes it for sale at very low-cost. Around £90 for a good specification computer with a flat screen monitor.

Azhar Malik is one of the disabled people working on the project, learning how to dismantle computers and hopefully also learning how put them back together again.
The project is managed by Duncan Souter (below) who also runs training courses in computer skills and provides support for people looking for work experience.

Disability Aids Recycling Project
Responding to concerns voiced by disabled people that they now have no way of passing on unwanted disability aids even though they still be in excellent condition DaCE has started a disability aids recycling project. Cumbria County Council is supporting this project which collects and refurbishes disability aids for sale at low-cost.
Phil Walters (below) and Becky Murray co-ordinate this project. Refurbished items for sale include walking aids, bath lifts, shopping aids and perching stools, among many others, all at prices considerably lower than when bought new.
