DaCE's Disability Adviser, Mark Tennant (below), works with organisations and agencies throughout Cumbria supporting the development of local disability organisations.
He also works closely with all public bodies on disability issues, including the local councils, county and district, police and health to help develop and review policies and practices from a disability perspective and ensuring they comply with disability legislation.
He can advise on all matters relating to disability and assist with access audits.

Current projects include working with the Crown Prosecution Service on Disability Hate Crime, something that has been on the increase in recent years.
Action on Disability also organises workshops, focus groups and conferences giving local people the opportunity to contribute to the debates around disability matters.

Disability Awareness Training
DaCE is committed to promoting greater disability awareness in our community. Action on Disability can provide advice about a wide range of access matters, and, with partner organisations, put together packages of disability awareness and equality training to suit any need. We have run training programmes for organisations throughout the county.
Access
For anyone concerned about access issues, whether physical access to buildings or ensuring disabled people can access their services, including accessible information, Mark can provide advice and guidance.
